CALL TO ORDER

Chair Picardi called the November 14, 2018 regular meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Vice Chair Burke led the Pledge of Allegiance.

APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA

Action: Burke moved to approve the November 14, 2018 regular meeting agenda, motion seconded by Poyuzina, motion carried 5/0 by the following vote:

MINUTES

Community and Cultural Affairs Regular Meeting Minutes - October 10, 2018
Public Works Analyst, Lynne Paul
Recommendation:	Approve as submitted, or corrected.

Action: Poyuzina moved to approve the October 10, 2018 minutes as submitted , motion seconded by Picardi, motion carried 5/0 by the following vote:

PUBLIC COMMENTS

Eddy Johnson presented a report on the Veterans Day event.

DISCUSSION ITEMS AND STATUS REPORTS:

1.	Community and Cultural Affairs Commission and Art in Public Places Budget
	Public Works Analyst, Lynne Paul
	Recommendation:	Receive and file.

Public Works Analyst, Lynne Paul, presented the budget to the Commission and responded to questions.

2.	Art in Public Places - Utility and Traffic Control Boxes and Mural Programs
	Public Works Analyst, Lynne Paul
	Recommendation:	Re-open and extend the application period for the Utility and Traffic Control Boxes and Mural Programs through February 28, 2019.

Chair Picardi presented the report and responded to questions.

Requita Grant indicated that artists had some concerns with the application dates due to the weather.

Action: Picardi moved to approve allowing applications for the Utility and Traffic Control Boxes and Mural Programs to be submitted through June 30, 2019. Staff will present applications to the Commission as they are submitted. The program could then continue on the basis of the City's fiscal year - July through June, motion seconded by Burke, motion carried 5/0 by the following vote:

3.	Desert's Cultural Bash: Presenting Real American Culture
	Chair, Michael Picardi
	Recommendation:	Discuss and provide direction for starting this program.

Chair Picardi presented the report and responded to questions.

Vanessa Bravo, resident of Desert Hot Springs, presented information on her vision of the Desert's Cultural Bash: Presenting Real American Culture and responded to questions.

4.	Kids Musical Program
	Chair, Michael Picardi
	Recommendation:	Discuss and provide direction for starting this program.

The organizer of this event was not present, so the Commission was not able to have a discussion.

5.	Sub-Committee Reports
	Sub-Committee Chairs
	Recommendation:	Update and discussion.

Sub-Committee Chairs presented their reports.

CHAIR AND COMMISSIONER REPORTS

Chair and Commissioner reports were presented during the Sub-Committee reports.

PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR REPORT

Public Works Analyst, Lynne Paul presented the Public Works report for information.
